A LITTLE KINDNESS CAN GROW
On Valentine’s Day 2020, let’s be mindful of how we act towards others. Let’s have more empathy and compassion. Let’s take a moment out of our hectic, stressful and overworked days to reflect on how we can take a breath and connect to our true inner self. Let’s take a minute to show love and respect from the bottom of our hearts …….to friends, colleagues, strangers and animals alike. Let’s be good role models and show our children that a little kindness can grow into a great big wide world of kindness.
A WORLD OF KINDNESS
At school, we read the book called “A World of Kindness”. For Valentine’s Day, we are creating class books about how we can be kind to each other in little ways. The goal is to change a little kindness into a world of kindness. It’s amazing how love and respect can grow and spread if we consciously think about our words and actions towards others.
It starts young, and as a teacher in a Kindergarten room, I like to encourage my students to think more about how their words and actions affect others. Kids need to know that they can make a positive difference by doing little acts of kindness to make the world a better place.
FIVE WISHES FOR LOVE
I wish on this Valentine’s Day 2020 that the younger generations would learn some respect and actually look up from the screen in front of them once in a while. But what are the kids witnessing? Have you ever wondered why today’s children act in such a way.? They see adults doing the same thing, that is why. We need to be cognizant of how often we ignore others because of our phones constantly ding, ding, dinging. Here’s an idea. Put the phone onto “Do Not Disturb” once in a while and spend some uninterrupted quality time with the younger generation so they can learn what respect and quality time actually feels like.
I wish on this Valentine’s Day 2020 that people in general would make more of an effort to make eye contact, smile and have a proper, open-hearted, face to face conversation once in a while. I feel like modern society is losing the value of deep and meaningful conversation. Also, I feel like people do not smile as much anymore. Most complain, and cuss and insult others on Twitter and Facebook and that has unfortunately become the new normal. I wish that more people in general would recognize the benefit of smiling. It heightens our own mood and it’s definitely contagious in a good way. It will often heighten the mood of those around us.
I wish on this Valentine’s Day 2020 for a school environment that is kind and loving, for my students and for me. It hurts my heart to know that there is such senseless gossip and bullying at my school each day! And that is not only between students but sometimes between colleagues, who are SUPPOSED to be professional educators. Go figure! I hope that before I retire in a few years, I can help bring more kindness and love to my school.
I wish on this Valentine’s Day 2020 that my single friends celebrate how important it is to have self- love and compassion. I hope this Valentine’s Day is filled with as much love as possible and I hope true love finds them soon, if they happen to be looking.
I wish on this Valentine’s Day 2020 that all my friends and loved ones enjoy an especially wonderful Valentine’s Day!
IT IS UP TO US TO BE THE CHANGE
So on this Valentine’s Day 2020, let’s be good role models to our children, to our students and to ourselves. Let’s show genuine love and respect from the bottom of our hearts …….to friends, colleagues, strangers and animals alike. Let’s encourage our younger generations to believe that a little kindness can grow into a great big wide world of kindness.
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY 2020 EVERYONE!!
Love and light,
